Kandao Technology is happy to announce that their QooCam EGO Viewer-Integrated 3D Camera and Meeting S 180° Video Conference Camera have both been awarded Good Design Awards by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion – the highest honor for design and innovation in the country.

“I give my greatest thanks to the awarding committee and jury for their recognition,” said Kandao CEO Dan Chen, “I’m also very grateful to all our talented engineering, production, and sales staff for their hard work in bringing these incredible products to market.”

The annual Good Design Awards are Japan’s oldest and most prestigious design awards, having been first awarded in 1957. The awards celebrate products and designs that bring users joy by improving their lives and building a better future.

Of the Meeting S, the awards selection jury committee commented:

“In terms of its function as a video conferencing camera, the camera is appraised for its ability to dynamically switch the screen by focusing properly on the speaker currently speaking through clear 180-degree images and face image recognition of the person. As it works as a stand-alone device, it does not need to be connected to a PC, and the convenience that it can be used just by placing it on a table is also appraised.”

The QooCam EGO was similarly praised:

“While it is easy to take stereoscopic photos just by pressing the shutter, the playfulness of the operation to switch between the shooting module and the viewing module is also highly appraised. Given that any picture taken can be viewed stereoscopically, it is much easier to reproduce the realism of the place than 3D scanning with LiDAR, and it is expected to bring more diversity to the market.”

About the Kandao QooCam EGO

The QooCam EGO is Kandao’s second foray into the world of consumer 3D imaging. Featuring two cameras separated by approximately the same distance as human eyes, the EGO can take stereoscopic 3D images that can be immediately viewed using Kandao’s innovative viewer, without the need for any special glasses or extra equipment. Users can use the built-in editor to add 3D effects and share their pictures with friends and family.
